# Pinned Panel

Use this panel to save, organize and quickly reuse views and selection sets.

Open this panel by clicking the *Pinned* icon on the right of your screen. Here you will find the views and selection sets saved in your project. Views and selection sets are shared with all members of the project.

The main page of the panel contains:

* **Quick access**: the *Home View* and up to 5 views or selection sets you use most. Press the number key shown next to an item to activate it: <kbd>0</kbd> for the Home View and <kbd>1</kbd> to <kbd>5</kbd> for the others. Drag the items to change their order. To add an item to quick access, click the star next to it in the *Views* or *Selection sets* list.
* **Views**: the list of all saved views. See [Creating Views](#creating-views) and [Managing Views](#managing-views).
* **Selection sets**: the list of all saved selection sets. See [Selection Sets](#selection-sets).
* **Create new**: create a new view or selection set.

To create, edit or delete views and selection sets, you need at least the status of **Editor** in this project. For more information on project roles, visit [this help article](/documentation/qonic-dashboard/projects.md).

## Creating Views

Save your current view by clicking *Create new* and then *Create view* on the main page of the panel, or by clicking *Create view* at the bottom of the *Views* list. You can give the view a name and optionally assign a location and one or more labels. The view can store the following information:

* Currently opened model(s)
* Active scope, if a scope is set
* Active sections, if any are active
* Selected products, if any are selected
* Current camera position

For each of these parameters you can choose whether or not to include them in the saved view.

## Managing Views

Once a view is created, it will show up in the *Views* list of the Pinned panel. The image below shows the layout of this list, including the following elements:

1. Search bar to find specific views
2. Filter and grouping options. You can filter by label, and group by model or label
3. Collapse/Expand all
4. Options for automatically generation plan and elevation views based on the spatial locations in your project. For each building 4 elevation views will be automatically created, and for each floor in each building a plan view will be created
5. A group; in this case the views are grouped by label, and the view *East* was assigned the label *Elevations*
6. Quick access indicator. Click the star to add the view to or remove it from quick access

<div data-with-frame="true"><figure><img src="https://929210962-files.gitbook.io/~/files/v0/b/gitbook-x-prod.appspot.com/o/spaces%2FZKeCFTBZzqUt4lpmhUdS%2Fuploads%2FYoyPBOawnlK6WvZ0TppV%2FGroup%20716.png?alt=media&amp;token=fa08a7d4-322b-4c82-884e-a7f6573358b8" alt="" width="330"><figcaption></figcaption></figure></div>

Once a view is created it can still be edited. You can choose to keep, update or exclude any of the parameters outlined in the beginning of this article.

## Views for 2D Drawing Generation

The Views list is the start of any [2D drawing](/documentation/qonic-dashboard/drawings.md) generated in Qonic. To create views for drawing creation, either:

* Use the automatically generated views mentioned in point (4) above, or
* Create custom views. To generate drawings there is one hard requirement: the view needs to include a **section box**. This contains the necessary information to know the direction, extents and depth of the view being generated.

Note that 2D drawings are generated based on the latest public version of the model(s), so make sure to [publish your changes](/documentation/qonic-dashboard/models/model-version-management.md) before generating the drawings.

## Selection Sets

A selection set is a saved selection of products, which you can reuse at any time to select the same products again.

To create a selection set:

1. Select the products you want to save
2. In the Pinned panel, click *Create new* and then *Create selection set*, or click *Create selection set* at the bottom of the *Selection sets* list
3. Fill in a **Name** and, if needed, change the **Selection**
4. (optional) Enable *Save as dynamic selection set*
5. Click *Create*

A regular selection set always contains the same products. A **dynamic** selection set instead stores the rule you used to select the products, and applies this rule again each time you use the set, so that it also includes products that were added or changed later. This option is only available when the selection was made by browsing or searching products, for example with the [Browse Panel](/documentation/qonic-application/data-and-collaboration/browse-panel.md) or the [Command center](/documentation/qonic-application/basics/command-center.md). A selection of products you picked one by one in the model is always saved as a regular selection set.

To use a selection set, click it in the *Selection sets* list: the products in the set will be selected. You can also add a selection set to quick access, or type its name in the [Command center](/documentation/qonic-application/basics/command-center.md) or in a product selection field of a tool, where matching selection sets are suggested.

Use the search bar at the top of the *Selection sets* list to find a specific selection set. Click the ellipsis button next to a selection set to edit or delete it.
