{% embed url="<https://qonic.wistia.com/medias/zgdsc0rsp6>" %}

A chalk curve is a temporary line or arc that can be drawn on objects or on the XY-plane. To create a circle:

1. Under the *Chalk* icon, click the *Circle* button or use the <kbd>O</kbd> shortcut
2. Hover your cursor over a face or on the XY-plane
3. Left click, hold and move the cursor to start drawing
4. Release the mouse button to accept
5. (optional) Enter a value in the Radius dimension field for more accuracy
6. (optional) Repeat to create more circles

A chalk curve can be selected and deleted using the [Deep Select](https://help.qonic.com/documentation/qonic-application/basics/navigation-and-selection/selection-modes#deep-select) mode.

{% hint style="warning" %}
To edit a curve, you need to start the *Line* tool first.
{% endhint %}

Chalk curves in Qonic differ from classic CAD lines and arcs in that they are:

* **Temporary:** in the current implementation, chalk curves are stored in the session, meaning that they will be gone after you close Qonic.
* **Associative with its host:** the curves stick to the surface you drew them on. If you move, modify or delete the host object, the chalk curve will move or be deleted accordingly.
